NARRATIVE OF ACTIVITIES SINCE LAST REPORT
- The CEC and the board approved one additional proposal for funding in 2008:
- Co-sponsorship of program at the New England Technical Services Librarians conference, October 2008
- We had received an inquiry from Joyce Tenney about co-sponsoring a serials program for the Maryland Library Association in May. She has since reported that the program will not require any money from NASIG, but as three of the four presenters are NASIG members they plan to promote NASIG during the presentation and have a membership form on the table.
- Valerie Bross, CEC Co-chair, had contacted Peter Shepherd of Project Counter to discuss the possibility of presenting the “UKSG Usage Statistics Training Seminar” as a NASIG preconference or other NASIG-sponsored forum. In February we learned that UKSG had initially accepted but then had to withdraw due to other commitments. We anticipate hearing from in the future to pursue future opportunities for collaboration.
- One of the ideas CEC members submitted for 2008 preconferences, Web 2.0, was accepted and will be a half-day session on the Thursday of the conference.
- Steve Oberg reports that he anticipates having a draft of the online course on “Best Practices for Electronic Resources Management”, one of the projects being supported by CEC for 2008, ready for review in July.
